The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s happy birthday message to star player, Pablo Hernandez. The Spaniard who turns 33 today has been the club’s best player this season despite being past his prime and the fans want to see their midfield maestro offered a new contract for the coming years at Elland Road as they target a long-awaited return to the Premier League.

Leeds sit 14th in the Championship after having a dismal 2018. The club has won just two games since the turn of the year after a very promising first half of the season had them floating around a play-off spot. The club looked strong under new manager Thomas Christiansen until they hit a bump in February and Christiansen was sacked following a 4-1 loss to Neil Warnock’s Cardiff.
The club have struggled to find positive’s since December, although the form and class of Pablo Hernandez has been something revered by the fans, who want to see a Leeds United team centred around the Spanish midfielder for the next few years. The Whites propping our bar up are in agreement that the club doesn’t have a strong enough side to fight for promotion and with a number of below-par players signed on long-term contracts, it’s hard to see a way out of the Championship for the Yorkshire club.
