Having narrowly missed out on the playoff spots after a stuttering end to the season, Leeds United will look to the new campaign with the hopes of going one step further and securing a top six finish.
New boss Thomas Christansen was a surprise appointment to our Leeds contingent here in the Transfer Tavern, but over a cold pint or two, our landlord had a chat with Whites fans about the new man at the helm, and who he should bring into the club this summer.
Christansen, a former Spanish international, will hope to mark a serious mark on the squad at Elland Road this summer and will look to bolster all units on the field.
Midfield could be the first place he starts, and although our resident Leeds fans crave a Jonny Howson return, Burnley’s Ashley Westwood could be a suitable alternative.
The midfielder only joined the Clarets in January after a five year spell with Aston Villa, but could be on the move again this summer with opportunities limited in the Premier League.
New faces will undoubtedly be seen at Turf Moor next season and if Sean Dyche leaves, then Westwood could be shown the door.
Burnley’s loss could be Leeds’ gain, with the dominating middle man possessing the ability and class to control matches with his break up play and distribution.
The Englishman would be a real coup for United, but certainly one the fans can get excited about.
