Leeds United take on Wigan on Sunday as they look to keep the pressure on league leaders Sheffield United who remain just two points off their Yorkshire rivals.
Leeds had remained top of the table for most of the early part of the season but following a multitude of injuries, Bielsa’s side has seen a drop in form and has only won two of its last six games. Despite that run of slightly disappointing form, Leeds still remain one of the favourites to win the title this year.
With Bielsa as coach they have one of the most tactically astute managers in the league and one that has already improved a vast number of the players in the squad.
Kemar Roofe has been transformed under the Argentine and is arguably one of the best strikers in the league. In midfield, Bielsa has placed a heavy emphasis on Kalvin Phillips and the Leeds academy man has become one of his most essential players.
Recently, former Leeds man, David Prutton has praised the midfielder and has also singled out Ezgjan Alioski, who’s recently played at left-back.
Leeds are going through a bit of an injury crisis at fullback and so far Bielsa has had to use Alioski and also Stuart Dallas at the back. With both players, not accustomed to playing the position to still play them and remain in the top three shows that even with so many injuries, Leeds remain a very strong side in the league. With that in mind, the rest of the league should be worried when the squad returns to full fitness.
