Our Leeds United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to dream of promotion this season and Garry Monk’s latest words, as quoted by The Express, have helped boost that feeling.
The Whites have been somewhat in the football wilderness over the last few years but this season looks like their best chance in a long time to at least get into the Championship play-offs.
Garry Monk has the club playing good football and given that they are such a giant of the game in this country still, once momentum gets going it is hard to stop them.
Catching Brighton and Newcastle will take some doing but if they can keep their best players for the rest of the campaign it is possible and so the news Chris Wood seems to be going nowhere has to be welcomed.
The striker has been in fine form this season for the Elland Road outfit and when asked about a possible move to China, Monk seemed pretty robust in his response.
The former Swansea manager said:
“I have no idea where that one’s come from.
“Speculation is speculation. Everyone who’s here is committed.”
Pretty conclusive from Monk then with our local Leeds punters glad to hear such definitive words.
Our landlord believes it’s a sign of his strong management, too, and thinks the Whites could be on the brink of something big.
