It’s another summer of rebuilding for the Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern, who were hoping for some stability under Garry Monk.
However, that was not to be as he joined Championship-promotion rivals Middlesbrough and new ownership rather surprisingly appointed Thomas Christiansen as the new man to take the reins at Elland Road.
The Spaniard is hard at work to whip his side into shape and recent reports suggest he’s closing in on a loan move for Everton defender Matthew Pennington. The 22-year-old will link up with the Whites in Austria ahead of his year’s loan and the deal has sparked debate on Twitter.
With the defence a key issue for Leeds right now, fans online have questioned as to why the club are bringing in someone on loan, with many preferring a permanent deal for possible.
That being said, here’s a look at how Twitter reacted to the Pennington deal.

Strong point made about our defence this season vs last season. Pennington is a good signing but we need a big signing next to Jansson #lufc

Although Pennington seems highly rated by many, I hope we sign a first team centre back and he's cover. Don't want loanees as staters. #lufc
