Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting a number of players to join them this summer, yet they may be priced out of a move for one of their targets.
The Whites are desperate to add some firepower to their side as they struggled to find the back of the net on a number of occasions last year, and have identified a prolific goalscorer to help with that issue.
And, according to reports in The Sun, the Elland Road outfit are amongst a host of teams interested in signing Peterborough United’s Jack Marriott, with the report also detailing important developments as the Whites will have to stump up least £6.5 million to take the striker away from the Posh.
The 23-year-old is reportedly wanted by Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest and Premier League side Crystal Palace, as well as Paul Heckingbottom’s Leeds, thus giving the Whites a huge amount of competition for his signature.
Landlord’s Verdict: It is no wonder the League One hitman has attracted plenty of interest from a number of clubs, having scored 33 times across all competitions this season.
The striker is considered as one of the hottest properties outside of the top-flight, allowing Peterborough to demand such a huge fee for their star.
Marriott would certainly make a difference at Elland Road should the Whites be able to come up with the finances to fund a deal, yet the locals will feel that the £6.5 million price-tag could make a deal difficult for the club to conclude.
