Leeds United stayed top of the Championship with another win over the course of the weekend, much to the delight of the punters propping up the bar here in the Transfer Tavern.
Indeed, the Whites have been in rampant form this season and the Yorkshiremen in our bar are starting to dream about a Premier League return at long, long last.
As if sitting top of the pile wasn’t enough, the Daily Mail have handed Leeds supporters an interesting transfer line to tuck into. They claim the club sent scouts over to Osasuna to run the rule over Arsenal’s flop, Fran Merida.
The Spaniard is currently playing in the Spanish second tier after Los Rojillos were relegated from La Liga in his first season with the club, though is said to have attracted interest from Leeds. A slightly left-field name, his potential arrival has been welcomed by our Leeds-mad punters, who fully trust Thomas Christiansen’s judgement on players after the success of summer arrivals.
It’s hard to doubt Christiansen, following the success of Samual Saiz and Pierre-Michel Lasogga. While Merida may have seen his time with Arsenal peter out, the fact he’s played for both the Gunners and Atletico Madrid during his career suggests a rather large amount of talent.
