Key Leeds man moves to allay injury fears over top star

Our Leeds fans here in the Transfer Tavern are fairly content with the start their club has made this season under Thomas Christiansen.

It’s the Spaniard’s first year in England, of course, and so, naturally, many are expecting him to take a bit of time to adapt to things in this country.

So far, though, he’s done a pretty decent job in making Leeds hard to beat – they haven’t lost a game this season so far – and so now they just need to score more goals – they’ve managed three in three league games.

For sure, then, his defence is looking pretty solid though it has certainly been hit with injuries early on to the point where Pontus Jansson is the only fit orthodox option at the moment.

Indeed, key man Liam Cooper was injured against Preston and missed the game against Fulham earlier this week but his manager has moved to allay fears that he is going to be out for a long time.

Indeed, as quoted by The Yorkshire Evening Post, he said:

“He had a problem before the game and I decided not to take a risk with him but I believe it’s nothing serious.”

Cooper could be back for the game against Sunderland this weekend, then, though time will ultimately tell with that one.

Landlord’s Verdict

Leeds’ defence has looked pretty solid this season with two clean sheets in their last two games coming despite the amount of injuries in that area.

Certainly, then, they’d like Cooper back in the role for the weekend but even if he is not fit Thomas Christiansen should feel that those that do play will be able to keep another shutout.
