Leeds boast one of the best No.1’s in the Championship in Rob Green, and TuttoMercatoWeb’s report that back-up man Marco Silvestri is set to be handed a new contract at Elland Road hints they are planning to keep the veteran on his toes.
The Italian stopper arrived at the club in 2014 and has made almost 100 outings for the Whites, but he’s yet to appear in the league this season.
Alas, Leeds want to keep him in Yorkshire and are planning to offer him a new contract to stay put, with his current deal expiring in 2018.
It remains to be seen if Silvestri is keen to stay put knowing that he will not be the main man as long as Green is around, but with the former England international now 37, his days playing at a high level are surely numbered.
The 26-year-old started his career with Chievo and his move to Leeds was the first time he had played for a club outside of his native Italy.
Marco Silvestri needs to leave Leeds – agree?
