Leeds fans have been kept busy in the Transfer Tavern and it looks like there could be a few more rumours to keep them busy.
Marcelo Bielsa will need to bring some key recruits if he wants to get Leeds back into the Premier League. At the top of the list, is a new striker to lead the line. The club have been heavily linked with a move for Derby Striker, Matej Vydra but according to reports from Football Insider, Leeds are lining up a move for Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia as an alternative to Matej Vydra.
Leeds’ move for Vydra has been going for a few weeks now and according to Football Insider, the club have drawn up a list of alternatives should the move for the Derby striker fall through.
While the deal for Vydra hasn’t yet fallen through, it seems wise from the Yorkshire club to draw up a list of alternatives. Leeds need a striker who can fire them to the promotion, and while Kodjia has at times shown potential, it might be a bit of a gamble from the Whites.
The Ivory Coast international has had a terrible 12 months after suffering two serious ankle injuries. However, in his debut season, for Villa the striker scored 19 goals in 36 games while the season before, he scored 18 for Bristol. He’s got some goalscoring pedigree but would Leeds be getting that from a man who’s basically missed a whole season.
At 28-years-old, he’s still in his prime but Leeds should still be putting all their effort into signing Vydra.
