Our Leeds fans here in the Transfer Tavern have got big smiles on their faces at the moment after a strong 3-2 win against Bolton on the opening day of their campaign yesterday.
The men from Elland Road travelled to the Trotters having seen the likes of Wolves win and Aston Villa draw – other sides in with a chance of promotion – and so they knew an early win was needed.
And that is what they got to kick off Thomas Christiansen’s reign in fine style – though it did come as a bit of a cost.
Indeed, Matthew Pennington and Gaetano Berardi both picked up injuries to highlight that the squad is still short in defensive areas now the campaign is underway.
For sure, then, Leeds fans are concerned that this is going to derail their year in due course but Phil Hay has revealed on Twitter that something is being done to try and nullify that threat:
Left-back wise, TC said that Borthwick-Jackson should be done this week. He’ll speak to the club about a CB tomorrow. #lufc

Manager Christiansen, then, is seemingly ready to delve into the market once more to address this early season issue and our landlord reckons that that is certainly a good idea.
The Leeds manager chalked up a solid win yesterday as his players played some good stuff but this early shortage of defenders is far from ideal.
Thankfully for him, though, the club still has time to sort it out in the market and that is what looks set to happen this week.
