Leeds: Fans hail Ben White after nomination for Player of the Month

Loads of Leeds United supporters have been hailing Ben White, after the Brighton & Hove Albion loanee was nominated for the PFA Player of the Month award for August.

White has begun his career in the Championship in fine form with Leeds, having joined the Elland Road outfit on a season-long deal from his parent Premier League side.

The 21-year-old is yet to miss a minute of action in the second-tier under Marcelo Bielsa, as he continues to hold down the starting centre-half role in the best defence in the Championship after six games, having conceded a league-low three goals.

Of centre-backs to have featured in at least half of the available games, only Brentford’s Julian Jeanvier has completed more successful tackles per ninety minutes than the Seagulls youngster with 2.9 to White’s 2.5 (WhoScored), while White ranks first for interceptions with 4.2 – 1.2 more than second-placed man, Bristol City’s Taylor Moore.

Many of the Leeds fans hailing White’s efforts for their side have been quick to point to their desire of seeing the West Yorkshire side reach an agreement to purchase the promising talent next summer once his temporary stint reaches its end, having failed to secure an option-to-buy in their current terms (Football Insider).

White was joined on the nominations list by fellow Leeds star Patrick Bamford, along with Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen, Charlton Athletic’s Lyle Taylor, Swansea City’s Borja Baston and Preston North End’s Daniel Johnson.

Here’s how these Leeds fans reacted to White’s nomination…
