Leeds: Fans laud Stuart McKinstry following U23s rout of Watford

Loads of Leeds United supporters have been hailing Stuart McKinstry, after the Scotland youth international made his first start at Elland Road following his summer arrival from Motherwell.
Motherwell confirmed McKinstry’s transfer to Leeds toward the end of August, with the 16-year-old moving to West Yorkshire after the Whites agreed a compensation package, allegedly worth a potential £400,000 (Scottish Sun).
The U17 international had enjoyed a stellar rise through the youth ranks at Motherwell prior to his departure, with the Wishaw-born natural right midfielder named on the bench when Kilmarnock travelled to Fir Park in December.
McKinstry’s first start at his new home saw the youngster named in a squad boasting a wealth of experience, with Gaetano Berardi and Barry Douglas lining up at the back while Luke Ayling and Tyler Roberts were handed minutes from the bench following the break.
Sunday’s game-changer Eddie Nketiah followed his late goal at Barnsley with minutes in Carlos Corberan’s side, too, and struck a brace in the opening 45 minutes, where Pascal Struijk had opened the scoring.
Roberts, Robbie Gotts and Luke Ayling rounded off the scoring in the second half to record a 6-0 rout over Watford in the Professional Development League, with McKinstry’s efforts particularly impressive for many of the Elland Road faithful.
Leeds Live described the Scotland youth international’s performance as promising and eye-catching, as the teenager was keen to drive on with the ball, while his quick footwork won two penalties and he remained a threat throughout the game with his presence on the wing.
His efforts were strong enough to warrant an eight out of ten match rating, and the admiration of many fans.
