Leeds fans on Twitter can’t get enough of Ryan Edmondson in U23’s success

For Leeds United fans, their U23s have been just as interesting to watch as their senior side this season. A number of first team players have featured for the age group side when recovering from injury, catching the fan’s eyes. However, last night saw the 17-year-old Ryan Edmondson make the headlines and grab the fan’s attention as he bagged a brace.

The pint-sized Leeds side faced their Newcastle equivalents in the final match of Group H in the Premier League Cup knowing that a win would see them top their group despite the fact they lost their two opening games. It was a chance for any of the White’s young squad to step up and make a name for themselves, and despite the fact that Edmondson is only 17-years-old, he was the man to step up.

The young striker grabbed two goals in the win, securing the Yorkshire side their place in the next round. It may not be the most interesting competition for the fans to follow, but they’ll be keeping a close eye given the way some of their youngsters are playing. A lot of fans would love to see more of their academy stars step up to the senior side and given Marcelo Bielsa’s willingness to call on youth, Ryan Edmondson could be the next in-club star to shine in the senior side.

You can read the Whites’ messages for Edmondson after his brace for the U23s here:

The Whites are loving seeing Edmondson star for the U23s and will be desperate for him to be in the senior side sooner or later.
