Leeds fans on Twitter delight at Bamford’s midweek heroics

Leeds fans knew that after getting beaten by Birmingham on the weekend, nothing but a win was good enough last night, even though Deepdale is a tough place to go. However, they battled through the game, rode their luck at times and grabbed a deserved 2-0 win thanks to a well-taken Patrick Bamford double.

The two goals meant loads to the travelling Leeds fans, and it will have meant a lot to Marcelo Bielsa, however, no one enjoyed the double more than Bamford himself, who has come in for plenty of criticism for some missed chances as of late. The former Middlesbrough man has not been at his clinical best recently, and with Kemar Roofe back the pressure was always going to be on for him to find the net.

That was exactly what he did last night too, as he stepped up with a big performance when it was needed to down the ten men of Preston. The double took Bamford’s tally for the season to eight Championship goals and considering how long he’s spent on the sidelines with injury this season the fact that he’s approaching double figures is mightily impressive, now he just needs to add a few more and break that ten mark in the next few weeks.

The Leeds fans watching on last night were just as buzzing that they got the win as they were that Bamford grabbed a double, and will hope the confidence boost that comes with his double sees him grab even more goals before the season finishes.
