A handful of Leeds United supporters have been reacting on social media after it was announced that Stuart Dallas had secured his latest call-up to the Northern Ireland squad.
Michael O’Neill’s Green and White Army are due to play Luxembourg and Germany in Euro 2020 qualifiers in September, as they search for their return to the UEFA competition after reaching the Round of 16 in their first entry to the tournament at Euro 2016 in France.
Northern Ireland currently sit top of qualifying Group C by three points to Germany after the opening four ties, with O’Neill’s side boasting a 100 per cent record thanks to two wins over Estonia and Belarus respectively.
Dallas featured prominently in each of the opening fixtures (TransferMarkt), and will be hoping to add to his 39-caps next month, having been a mainstay of the team since 2015.
The 28-year-old has been a regular feature for Leeds this term, and a key option for Marcelo Bielsa, after routine right-back Luke Ayling underwent surgery on his ankle during the summer and left the Argentine manager deprived of natural alternatives.
Dallas has stepped up to the role more than adequately for the Whites, as he boasts the fifth-most successful tackles per ninety minutes of any United player to have featured for more than 100 minutes in the league this season with 1.6 from 3.1 attempts (WhoScored), while also blocking the third-most crosses, making the fifth-most clearances, and completing the third-most dribbles.
Leeds supporters reacting to his latest inclusion in O’Neill’s Northern Ireland squad have been sharing their praise for his efforts at Elland Road this term, and stating that his call-up is very much deserved.
