Leeds: Fans react as Klich hints at new contract

A selection of Leeds United supporters have been reacting on social media after Mateusz Klich hinted that he is close to agreeing a new contract with the Championship promotion hopefuls.

Klich has one year remaining on his current £7,750-a-week (Capology) deal at Elland Road, where he enjoyed a boisterous revival of his Whites career under Marcelo Bielsa last season, having been out of favour under Thomas Christiansen before joining FC Utrecht on loan in January 2018.

The Poland international helped towards the West Yorkshire outfit’s bid for promotion to the Premier League with 10 goals and nine assists (WhoScored) last term, and has continued into the new campaign once again as a regular in the first team but has only contributed one assist in the second tier so far.

With Klich otherwise free to negotiate pre-contract agreements come the turn of the year, the Cracovia Krakow product has now hinted that he is close to signing a new deal with the Whites.

Speaking with Przemyslaw Rudzki while on international duty (via Krzysztof Wrzal), Klich responded to a question on his future by stating that he is not far off putting pen to paper and committing his future to Bielsa’s side, currently third in the table.

Klich’s hint towards a new contract has been supported by Polish outlet Przeglad Sportowy, who recently suggested that talks are underway to prolong the Tarnow-born midfielder’s time in West Yorkshire, despite alleged interest from Premier League side Burnley this summer (Daily Mail).

Some Leeds fans are already showing excitement at the prospect of Klich signing a new contract, as evident by a few of the reactions to his comments to Przemyslaw Rudzki…
