News broke towards the end of the afternoon yesterday that Sheffield Wednesday would be under investigation from the EFL concerning financial issues.
The Owls have had this cloud over them for some time and, yesterday, we saw the EFL release a statement that relayed the fact that they have charged the club over their financial conduct.
Since, the Owls have released a statement of their own saying that they will ‘vigorously defend’ against the charges – and such an update has come from the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth:
Sheffield Wednesday will be 'vigorously defending' the charges brought by the EFL. https://t.co/g0JyksZIQh

The Owls have got a bit of a fight on at the moment, and fans of the club will worry about a points deduction – though some rival fans have, naturally, taken the news a lot more light-heartedly.
As one of their Yorkshire rivals, Leeds fans have had plenty to say about this news, so let’s take a look at what has been said:
We’ll be laughing ‘vigorously’ when they’re deducted 12 points.

Is financial fairplay just following Gary Monk around?😂

Announce the same for Derby and I will be even happier.

Is this worse than Birmingham so should a bigger points penalty be expected?
