Leeds: Fans slam Hernandez’s ‘woeful’ game vs Barnsley

Loads of Leeds United supporters took to Twitter during the West Yorkshire outfit’s trip to Barnsley on Sunday to vent their frustrations at Pablo Hernandez’s performance against the Oakwell natives.

Leeds won the game 2-0 thanks to a late strike by Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah and a penalty which Mateusz Klich converted, but had plenty of opportunities to break the deadlock throughout the Championship encounter.

Hernandez had a glaring chance to open the scoring moments before half-time, as well, when the Spaniard shot over the bar while unmarked after the Tykes gifted Jack Harrison possession 14 yards out and the Manchester City-owned winger played a perfect ball across the box to the Whites’ veteran midfielder.

Championship Picks

Castellon-born Hernandez was making his seventh appearance of the Championship season away to Barnsley, against whom he recorded his seventh-straight start of the term as he went in search of his third goal and assist respectively (WhoScored).

The 34-year-old’s glaring spurned chance in the first half was the only shot he attempted at Oakwell, though, while WhoScored recorded Hernandez playing three key passes late into the game amid a total 62 attempted passes, 48 of which found a teammate.

Hernandez also failed to complete any of his three attempted dribbles on Sunday, while winning possession with two of his three attempted tackles – only Ben White, Jack Harrison and Patrick Bamford won possession less often of those who started for Leeds.

United supporters, though, were clearly left unimpressed by Hernandez’s performance…
