Leeds United are set to raid fellow Championship club Blackburn Rovers and make a move for youngster Luke Brennan, according to Football Insider.
Having scouted Linfield forward Charlie Allen over the last few months, a deal to bring in the young striker has now been reached with officials at Elland Road offering the young striker a three-and-a-half year deal to join the club.
Allen, who had trials with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea previously, will sign a scholarship deal with Championship leaders Leeds before turning professional when he turns 17 in November, and it now looks likely that the young goalscorer will be joined by another top talent in Brennan with Leeds set to make an offer to Blackburn.
Emerging through the club’s youth ranks from the age of seven, Brennan has been a success for Blackburn’s under-18 side this term, helping them reach the FA Youth Cup semi-final stage whilst also appearing seven times for the under-23 team in Premier League 2. [via Transfermarkt]
Blackburn will likely be keen to keep hold of the 18-year-old winger but the lure of playing Premier League football next term (should Leeds successfully clinch promotion) could prove a significant enticement for the youngster.
Leeds seem to be putting plans in place for the future and, with top talents such as Kalvin Phillips having come through the club’s youth system to become a fixed first team presence, it looks like an increasingly attractive destination for any young player.
In Argentine boss Marcelo Bielsa, those young players also have the perfect chance to break into the first team, given that the former Athletic Bilbao man is trusting in young players and keen to explore the academy setup.
