Leeds need to make ambitious swoop for £9m-rated multiple Premier League winner

Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for the season to start and our punters reckon the Whites can finally achieve promotion.

The club will start the season with a new manager for the fifth campaign in a row. The Leeds brass decided to axe Paul Heckingbottom in search of a man to take them forward. That man was deemed to be former Argentina and Chile manager – Marcelo Bielsa.

Bielsa arrives at Elland Road with a glowing reputation. Heralded by Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, as his managerial icon, our regulars can’t believe their luck. They think the Argentine is the man to bring the club back to the Premier League finally.

His summer revamp starts now with a reported £20m transfer war chest at his disposal. Signing a new goalkeeper will be high on his priority lists now the window is open. Bielsa would be wise to use his connection to Guardiola and attempt to sign City keeper – Joe Hart.

Valued at £9m by Transfermarkt, Hart’s career has been on a downward spiral since lifting the Premier League with the Citizens. Failed loan spells with Torino and West Ham led to Hart losing his place as England’s number one. A move to Elland Road could be just what he needs to rediscover his best form.

The 31-year-old remains a good stopper and would be considered a real coup if Leeds could pull the deal off. Wages could prove to be a stumbling block, but Hart has indicated he would take a pay cut in search of regular game time.

Whether Leeds could lure him to the Championship remains to be seen, but they have to try.
