Leeds scouts have been monitoring Spanish heavyweights

Are Leeds plotting for a return to the Premier League? Well AS have reported that the Championship outfit have had scouts present at Villarreal this season, suggesting that they are monitoring a high calibre of player.

The Yellow Submarine are currently fifth in La Liga and spent the opening half of the campaign in the Champions League, dropping into the Europa League after Christmas, illustrating the prowess of the stars in their squad.

And AS report that Leeds are one of a host of clubs to have had scouts watching Villarreal, although no specific targets are mentioned.

One vocal punter in the Transfer Tavern has pointed out that Alfredo Pedraza is on loan from El Madrigal, which may account for this, but given that the winger was with Lugo for the opening half of the season, it’s unlikely he was the cause for trips.

Leeds are not the only second-tier side looking at Villarreal, with AS naming Newcastle, Aston Villa and Bristol City as others.

Leeds will gain promotion this season – agree?
