Leeds fans here in the Tavern are resigned to the fact that their team will be facing another season in the Championship next year despite having made a promising start to the season.
Too many bad performances have led to Leeds being way adrift of the frontrunners in the league and now with little to play for, Leeds should be eyeing up transfer targets ahead of next season.
With more goals needed for the Peacocks, Arsenal’s young striker Eddie Nketiah is a player worth considering bringing to Elland Road. The 18-year-old burst onto the scene this season for the Gunners when bagging both goals in their 2-1 victory over Norwich in the Carabao Cup. The energetic, pacey forward caused the Championship side a number of problems throughout the game and if Leeds could persuade him to gain experience at their historic club, it could work out to be a great deal for both parties.
Despite being just 18, Nketiah plays for Arsenal’s U23’s and has scored 9 goals and created two assists in 11 appearances so far. The youngster seems full of potential and allowing him to improve his game in the Championship could mould the Englishman into a future star.
One thing is for sure, Leeds desperately need to improve next season. If they want to return to the Premier League, improvements need to be made throughout the club and a deal for a very promising youngster would be a great way to start.
As an Arsenal fan himself, our landlord suggests the Nketiah could really be a star for Arsenal one day so if Leeds try and acquire the 18-year-old whilst available, he could be a big player in the race for promotion next season.
