As per Football Insider, footballer Alex Bruce, son of Newcastle United boss Steve, has hinted that Leeds United loanee Jean-Kevin Augustin could benefit from the latest rumoured EFL return – with the RB Leipzig forward yet to shine under Marcelo Bielsa.
Augustin, who signed on a half-season loan deal back in January, playing out the first portion of this campaign at Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, has struggled to find his feet during his minimal outings for Leeds so far – playing just 49 minutes over three substitute appearances (WhoScored). This is partly down to injury, but a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post [13:09] has stated that Augustin is now knock-free but yet to get back to full match fitness.
Another Football Insider report has claimed that plans are being discussed to resume the season at the start of June, with Bruce going on to say that it could give Augustin time to regain match fitness.
“People who are injured at the minute, must be rubbing their hands together,” explained Bruce. “It gives them a bit of time to get back fit. If you’ve done hammies or muscle strains or something like that, or you’re recovering from a long-term injury and you’re at the final stages of it, it’ll be them kind of players it’s beneficial for.
Is Marcelo Bielsa a Leeds legend even if they don't go up?
“It’s not this one scenario has happened to Leeds, everyone knows the impact it’s had on the world, not just football.”
Indeed, if Leeds are going to take any benefit from the EFL’s current suspension, it will be the fact that all players have a chance to recover and prepare – especially if the restart date will be pushed to June.
