Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and officials from the club are said to be willing to beat any interested parties in making a move for Blackburn Rovers winger Luke Brennan this summer.
Football Insider were the first to reveal that both Leeds and Brighton and Hove Albion were keen on luring the 18-year-old to their clubs, respectively.
Brennan, who has been impressing for Rovers’ youth sides this season, has scored one goal and gained seven assists in his 19 appearances in both the U18 Premier League and in Premier League 2 at U23 level.
Having performed to a consistent level and impressed, the youngster is gradually becoming one of England’s most wanted players ahead of the summer transfer window.
And, joining Leeds and Brighton with interest are now Premier League leaders Liverpool with a recruitment source telling Football Insider that they have made tentative enquiries.
A potential three-way transfer race to sign Brennan is likely to see more clubs join but for now it would be hard to argue against Liverpool being favourites to seal the youngster’s signature.
That being said, Brennan may opt to look at getting first team football sooner than later, having more of a chance of breaking into the side at Leeds or Brighton. Indeed, as a winger, it is unlikely that he would displace star duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at Anfield any time soon, were he to switch to Merseyside.
With Leeds set to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League, they could be the perfect club for him to join next as he looks to continue his development by getting first team appearances at a high level.
