Sky Sports pundit David Prutton thinks Leeds’ winless Championship run will extend this weekend, as the Whites look to avoid a fourth game without victory at Birmingham City on Sunday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side rescued a draw late on at home to Preston North End on Boxing Day thanks to Stuart Dallas’ equaliser, though it seems the team are yet to recover since letting go a three-goal lead at home to Cardiff City earlier this month.
Making his weekend Championship predictions for Sky Sports, Prutton has backed the Blues to pile on the misery as Leeds’ promotion push shows potential signs of faltering once again.
Also tipping Brentford to narrow the gap with a win at Millwall, Prutton thinks the visitors will fall short once more at St. Andrew’s.
He said: “Birmingham showed good resolve to grab a point at Blackburn on Boxing Day, which is never an easy place to go. It was important for them to end a run of three straight defeats, too.
“Leeds are in a bit of a slump, at least by their high standards. It’s three without a win now and they did struggle against the Blues last season. I fancy a draw here.”
Leeds have been poor of late and are threatening to ruin the hard work they put in as they strung together seven successive league wins from the start of November.
However, Birmingham have been just as disappointing in mid-table, having won just one of their last ten matches – with no home victory since late October.
Although, they did hold Sheffield Wednesday to a draw a month ago, while they were unlucky not to get anything out of their recent home game against leaders West Brom, which may suggest they can provide a stern challenge for Leeds on Sunday.
And should they be coming out of their last game in higher spirits than their weekend opponents as Prutton implies, there is every reason Leeds could yet see the gap between them and the play-off places narrow even further come Sunday evening.
Surely Leeds can't blow a 10-point lead on 3rd?
