Another season and the same result for Leeds United; more heartache and another year of Championship football at Elland Road.
There is no doubt that Marcelo Bielsa improved things ten-fold for the Whites in his first campaign, however, he ultimately fell short and now questions will be asked about whether he will remain in the hot-seat.
If he does, and many will be hoping that he will, the Argentine (and the club) has a name and reputation that precedes itself and that can help benefit Leeds in more ways than one; including in the upcoming transfer window.
Let’s face it; if the Yorkshire outfit are going to secure promotion in the 2019/20 Championship campaign, they are going to have to make some quality additions to their squad to give them a chance of replicating the performances they produced this year.
However, a reputation can only go so far and sometimes that may not be enough to convince a player to join you.
And, that could be the case with Nahitan Nandez.
Back in April, and prior to the Whites’ dip in form towards the end of the season and their poor play-off campaign, the Boca Juniors midfielder was said to be very keen on joining Leeds in the summer, with his agent, Pablo Bentancur, going as far as saying his client would like to play for Bielsa (El Crack Deportivo).
However, Bentancur also inferred that playing in the Championship would be beneath Nandez, and, well that is exactly where Leeds will find themselves next year.
The Laziali are claiming the English outfit are still interested in acquiring the Uruguay international, however, it is expected that a fee of around €20million (£17.5m) would be needed to sign him, which could be too much for the club to fork out on one player.
The 23-year-old is extremely talented and could be the type of player that would thrive under the guidance of Bielsa. A box-to-box midfielder, he has plenty of tenacity to offer, whilst he is not scared about going forward and providing options for his team-mates.
Nandez has an excellent ability to win the ball back quickly as well with his pressing technique, something that the Argentine boss likes to get out of his current crop of players at Elland Road.
However, Leeds fans, any possibility of getting this statement signing over the line in the summer now looks to be dead in the water.
Leeds fans, what do you make of your chances of signing Nandez now? Let us know your thoughts below!
