Leeds United received a positive transfer update from The Sun’s Alan Nixon over the future of on-loan forward, Eddie Nketiah.
Should Leeds really be keeping Eddie Nketiah?
According to the journalist for The Sun, the Arsenal man will be staying at the club bar a ‘late upset’ in the January transfer window.
He also said that moves for Liverpool pair Curtis Jones and Rhian Brewster remain unlikely due to the prospective playing time the duo would receive at the Yorkshire club.
Seeing news that Nketiah could be set to stay is great for the club, given the time that will be needed for another signing to settle into the side.
That will not be a worry, and manager Marcelo Bielsa knows he’ll have a reliable source of goals off the bench in the 20-year-old.
Nketiah has made an influential impact in three Championship games so far this season. He came off the bench to score the winning goals against Brentford and Barnsley, and also scored an equaliser in the 1-1 draw away to northern rivals Preston North End. In total, he has won the club five points showing that he can be a lethal option for the remainder of the season (via Transfermarkt).
In comparison to someone like Brewster, who has been tipped to come to Elland Road as a replacement, he is head and shoulders above his competitor.
The news about Nketiah will allow the Argentine coach to relax far more in the winter window if proven to be true. The last thing Leeds needs to be doing is concentrating on finding a back-up to Patrick Bamford, a move that could well hamper their progression in gaining automatic promotion.
