Leeds United-linked Elvis Rexhbecaj is allowed to leave German club Wolfsburg, according to a report in Bild.
The German publication claim that the 22-year-old will be allowed to leave the Bundesliga club due to a lack of minutes this season.
After enjoying a brilliant season for the club, Kalvin Phillips could well be on his way out of the club. The midfielder has started in all but one of the club’s 22 Championship game and his form has seen him being linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United (via Football Insider).
Rexhbecaj could well be the perfect replacement for the 24-year-old, and for the reported price of £7m, he would be an absolute steal.
In the most recent Europa League game against Saint-Etienne, Rexhbecaj enjoyed a brilliant game and had the second-most shots and the joint-second most key passes of any Wolfsburg player (via WhoScored).
However, it was the accuracy of his passing which really stood out with the midfielder averaging 87.5% accuracy from 56 passes.
Like Phillips, he has a strong defensive side to his games and made three tackles, three clearances and two interceptions throughout the 90 minutes.
Phillips’ form suggests he could be heading out of Elland Road sooner rather than later should Leeds continue in the Championship, given the reported interest in him. With that in mind, Rexhbecaj ‘s price and most recent performance suggest a move to Leeds would be a shrewd transfer from the Yorkshire side, should they want to replace Phillips.
Leeds fans, would you take Rexhbecaj as a replacement for Phillips? Let us know your thoughts!
