Leeds United fans were left agreeing with a journalist, who claims that the club’s end product was the reason for their struggles against Wigan Athletic last Saturday.
In an interview with Sky Sports News (via Yorkshire Evening Post), former defender Danny Mills claimed that the players looked ‘tired and jaded’ during their loss to the relegation candidates, claiming they ‘needed fresh legs’. Substitutions were made during the second half of the Championship encounter with Tyler Roberts coming on for the Whites.
However, reporter Graham Smyth claims that it is the inability to be able to find a man with crosses which saw the team struggle against the Latics. Statistics from last weekend back up his claim with Marcelo Bielsa’s side having attempted a mammoth 42 crosses and not been able to score in a 1-0 loss (via WhoScored). It seems as though fans agree with the journalist as they took to Twitter to talk about the team’s struggles in the final third. Here is a selection of tweets from the Yorkshire faithful:
Hit the first man nearly every single time they crossed the ball 2nd half, Wigan defended well but we should be putting 3 or 4 past them at this stage of the season

The crowded penalty area at either end of the pitch is the enemy.

Looked devoid of ideas

Agree. Just couldn’t finish (again). It happens. Also happened to City and Forest this week, likely many more. Would have been good to try the new lads, hopefully they will sort it out. Last year, at this point, went 8-3-1 before the last four games…. would take this!

Exactly the same as last season. People defaulted to “Bielsa burnout” etc. Which was totally not the case. We screwed it up at the end of last season for the same reason were in the process of screwing it up this time: missing hatful of chances. And not just Bamford.
