Leeds United: Fans bemoan no Luke Ayling nomination for Championship Player of the Month

Responding to a tweet by the Championship’s official account, many Leeds United supporters have been in uproar over the fact that defender Luke Ayling wasn’t nominated for the division’s February Player of the Month.
Ayling, who has arguably had a brilliant last month for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, winning the club’s version of the accolade with 51% of the vote, has been left out in favour of Sam Morsy, Cauley Woodrow, Scott Hogan and Aleksandar Mitrovic. The Englishman, who has started 27 Championship games for the club this season, has made 2 tackles per game on average, 1.8 interceptions and 1.8 clearances – averaging the third-best overall defensive stats out of the entire squad, as per WhoScored.com.
The defender has also notched an impressive four goals and three assists from the full-back position, potentially highlighting his potency going forward as well as at the back. Some supporters even described the lack of Ayling’s presence, or any Leeds player, in the vote as ‘madness‘ – with one fan saying he was ‘robbed‘.
