Leeds United: Fans impressed as Patrick Bamford ends goal drought against Blackburn

Leeds United will go into the international break on a positive note after beating Blackburn Rovers 2-1, and one of the heroes of the day was a player who has split opinion over the past couple of months. Patrick Bamford took the penalty that broke the deadlock in the 30th minute, as he calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right of the net, sending the Blackburn keeper the wrong way.

He’s picked up criticism for his lack of goals this season, having scored just five in 16 appearances and one in the last nine for the Whites. 20-year-old Eddie Nketiah has been putting pressure on Marcelo Bielsa to hand him a start after scoring three times in just 265 minutes on the pitch this season, but it’s been said that the manager has kept Bamford in the side because of his all-round play and not just his end product. He certainly showed he has that on Saturday with the goal and an assist.

The club’s official Twitter account posted a picture of the 26-year-old’s passionate celebration after his goals with the caption “pure passion!” and nearly fifty fans jumped into the replies to congratulate him on his performance which saw him score 7.51/10 on Who Scored.

You can see some of their reactions to the tweet below:

Leeds fans, do you think Patrick Bamford will score enough goals to help your team to automatic promotion this season?
