Leeds United: Fans left purring over Eric Cantona footage emerges

After being treated to a blast from the past on Twitter, many Leeds United fans were left purring over footage involving former star Eric Cantona.

The video, which was uploaded to the social media site by LUFCMOT, showed the French striker taking two sublime touches before firing past the helpless Chelsea goalkeeper to give the Elland Road outfit a 3-0 win (via YouTube).
Indeed, the victory helped them on their way to winning the top-flight title in the 1991/92 campaign, just one season before it was re-branded as the Premier League that we all know it as today.
Cantona may have only had a brief stay in Yorkshire before going on to join fierce rivals Manchester United, but he had an impactful spell nonetheless.
According to data collected by TransferMarkt, the now-55-year-old managed to bag himself 13 goals in his 27 appearances across all appearances for the Whites, which is perhaps why a number of the club’s faithful on Twitter were left purring after witnessing the old archive footage.
One Leeds fan mentioned that was the moment that he felt the club had inherited a genius before his move to the Red Devils, whilst another also echoed how he felt about the Frenchman.
Here are just some of their reactions to the footage showing Cantona’s goal…
The day I thought we’d inherited a genius until it all went sour MOT.

I know I hated what eventually happened to him… ☹️ but he was my favourite player whilst he played for us.
