Leeds United: Fans loved Mirco Antenucci’s goal

After a video was shared on Twitter showing a peach of a goal by Mirco Antenucci, a shed load of Leeds United fans were left purring at what their former forward managed to achieve.
GLORIOUS!
Who remembers this beauty from Mirco Antenucci on the opening day of the 2015/16 season?#LUFC pic.twitter.com/QwMa9bNhuO

The footage was shared by E-Leeds United on the social media platform and it showed how the now-35-year-old Italian managed to bend in a beauty of a ball into the far corner and provide the Whites with the lead in their 2015/16 Championship opener with Burnley at Elland Road in the final stages of the encounter.
Perhaps what was even more remarkable was that the effort came from Antenucci’s supposed weaker foot (TransferMarkt) – something Don Goodman also referenced in the video clip whilst on commentary duties for Sky Sports.
Indeed, it was a superb goal from a player who ended the previous campaign as Leeds’ top goalscorer (via Statbunker) and had a number of the club’s supporters reminiscing about the moment on the Twitter post.
Some had mentioned that if he were to still be at Elland Road, they felt Marcelo Bielsa would have been able to turn him into something special whilst a few others had shared that they were “gutted” when he left the club.
One of the Whites’ faithful had even mentioned that he had “passion like [Luciano] Becchio” in reference to one of their former favourites, although this supporter may have forgotten how the Italian may have forced a move away from the Yorkshire outfit by refusing to play for them because of an alleged injury problem (The Daily Mail).
Here are just some of their reactions to Antenucci’s beaut of a goal…
