Leeds United: Fans react to Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s Northern Ireland display

Northern Ireland suffered a heartbreaking 3-1 defeat against the Netherlands in a crucial Euro 2020 qualifier on Thursday.

Michael O’Neill’s side went 1-0 up with just 15 minutes left to play thanks to a Josh Magennis header, but the Netherlands equalised just five minutes later through Memphis Depay.

A draw would still have been a positive result, but they conceded twice in the 91st and 94th minutes to ultimately lose the game.

The result leaves Northern Ireland third in Group C, and having played a game more than the Netherlands and Germany, it means they now face an uphill task to qualify for the tournament next year.

It wasn’t a great night for goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who was arguably at fault for the second goal that the Dutch scored. The shot-stopper dived for the ball as Luuk de Jong flicked it into the air, leaving him on the floor in the net and giving the forward a tap-in.

Peacock-Farrell joined Burnley from Leeds United in the summer, and it would be fair to say that fans of his former club had little sympathy for him after his disappointing performance in Rotterdam.

Plenty of them took to Twitter to point the finger at him for the second Netherlands goal, whilst others were also questioning why he was time-wasting in the 52nd minute, with the score still at 0-0…

Leeds fans, what are your opinions on Peacock-Farrell? Should you have sold him? Let us know in the comments below!
