Leeds United: Fans react to news Gaetano Berardi would like to see career out in Italy

Plenty of Leeds United fans have been reacting to a tweet that Phil Hay posted regarding Gaetano Berardi and his desire to retire in Italy.
If you’ve any grasp of Italian, good interview with Gaetano Berardi done by @BritishFootball. On his future, says he’d like to finish his career in Italy but is happy at Leeds. Contract decision will wait to the end of the season: https://t.co/bLKZ0FPjlC

The Athletic journalist shared a post about an interview the Swiss defender did with Italian outlet British Football on Instagram in which he talked about a variety of topics.
Hay, then, decided to share with his followers that the experienced and versatile defender was happy playing his football at Elland Road currently, however admitted that he had a desire to finish his playing days in the Mediterranean nation of Italy.
Indeed, this revelation had some of the Leeds fans sharing some concern as they did not want to see Berardi leave the club anytime soon, despite his current contract situation suggesting a departure in the summer could well be on the cards with it expiring in a few months (as per TransferMarkt).
Supporters from the Whites’ faithful mentioned how he will go down as a cult hero, with many of them wishing him well for the future should he leave the Yorkshire outfit for Italy, although one fan admitted he would be ‘gutted’ if the 31-year-old were to make his exit.
Here are what just some of the Leeds faithful had to say…
I like Berardi and he has controlled his discipline this season and been dependable but will always be a live wire. He’s getting on as well (32 in August) so best for all both club and player if he’s aloud to leave when season finishes. Good luck to him.

If we go up I think it would be the perfect ending for him and wouldn’t be suprised if he went back to Italy knowing it was job done
