It’s been a truly wonderful start to life under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United. Indeed, unbeaten in the league, the Whites are daring to dream about a potential return to the Premier League with the enigmatic Argentine at the helm.
His tactical imprint at Elland Road is already obvious and those in Yorkshire must be mightly confident during this international break. In fact, unless you support Manchester United, Huddersfield or one of the Sheffield clubs, it seems like an awful lot of people are willing the Whites on this time.
Clearly, it’s far too early to be talking about promotion but it would be interesting to see El Loco mix it with the English elite. Indeed, the former Atletico Bilbao coach is highly thought of by the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Pep Guardiola, so it’d be thrilling to see what he does with the current crop of Leeds players should they reach the proverbial Promised Land.
So much so that we recently asked our Leeds supporting readers whether they thought Kemar Roofe would be able to cope in the top tier. The former Oxford forward has been Bielsa’s biggest star thus far, improving hugely under his guidance thus far, and certainly does appear to have the backing of fans.
Interestingly, a huge 77% of polled readers think the 25-year-old could hack it in the Premier League after his rapid improvement, something likely to stand them in good stead if Leeds do in fact go up.
