Leeds United: Fans want club to sign a centre-back with money received from Bailey Peacock-Farrell deal - Championship

Leeds United fans have been calling for the club to use the money they receive for Bailey Peacock-Farrell this summer for a new centre-back on Twitter.

The young Northern Ireland international ‘keeper is thought to be on the verge of completing a £2.5m move to Burnley (BBC), although the Yorkshire Evening Post had claimed it was worth a little more at around £3.5m.

Interestingly, that report also suggests that a replacement shot-stopper will come into the side before the transfer deadline, which appears to have had some fans reacting with some confusion and concerns about whether the Whites are addressing the right areas.

Many of them took to Twitter to tell Leeds that they would be better off spending the money they receive from the 22-year-old’s seemingly imminent transfer.

Indeed, it would be difficult to argue against the idea of using that money for a new centre-back.

Despite Ben White’s arrival from Brighton and Hove Albion, Leeds have just Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi as their most senior options in the position, with Conor Shaughnessy as a back-up option following the departure of Pontus Jansson to Brentford (Transfermarkt).

Kalvin Phillips could also be utilised by Marcelo Bielsa in the backline, although that appears to be an unpopular decision as Noel Whelan recently claimed it would be a ‘ludicrous’ mistake by the Argentine manager (Football Insider).

Here are just some of the reactions left by Leeds fans…
