Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to wish Hugo Diaz the best of luck as he completed a switch to Getafe.

The 22-year-old was released by the Whites last month at the end of his contract, despite playing a key role for much of last season’s successful campaign for the Under-23s (Leeds Live). He did subsequently fall down the pecking order as the year went on once the club decided against renewing his contract.
The Spaniard had captained the side on a number of occasions and provided fans with an emotional post on social media once his departure was confirmed. He stated that the fans had helped to infect him with the passion that they had for their club.
Diaz had made just one appearance for the senior side back in 2018 as he came off the bench in their 3-1 defeat to Preston North End when Paul Heckingbottom was still in charge at Elland Road (Transfermarkt).
During Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure, the versatile defender was an unused substitute in their FA Cup third-round defeat to Queens Park Rangers in January but never made the jump up to first-team football under the Argentine boss.
Diaz will now play football in his homeland as he makes the switch to Getafe, where he could potentially look to compete for a place in the La Liga outfit’s Europa League squad after they finished strongly last season.
Fans were supportive of his move to the Spanish club and were quick to wish him luck, whilst many others felt that Leeds would miss a player of his calibre and were sorry to see him go.
Here are just some of their reactions…
Good boy, hope it really works out well as you deserve it. Sorry to see you left Leeds.
Good Luck Hugo.
