Leeds United in the clear over defender following manager comments

Though missing out on the playoffs was enough to send many of the local Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern into tears, the future is at least looking bright for the club.

Should Garry Monk stick around at Elland Road, the punters propping up the bar believe the Yorkshire giants really can challenge for automatic promotion next season, though even the optimistic remain concerned about the future of one of their players.

Defender and academy graduate Charlie Taylor has recently been linked with a move away from Leeds, with West Bromwich Albion reportedly keen.

Having refused to play in the final game of the season at Wigan Athletic, the left-back has been fined two weeks wages, though a Premier League boss has today offered up some good news in regards to Taylor at last.

Mark Hughes has denied reports linking the 22-year-old with a move to Stoke City, with quotes sourced by the Yorkshire Evening Post showing there is no interest in the play from the Potteries.

“Charlie Taylor is not a player we are involved in. We aren’t looking to pursue anything – he isn’t one of our targets.”
