According to a report from the Daily Mail, the EFL look set to announce a new return date next week stretching beyond April 30th – with Leeds United of course affected by the potential development.
Just over a week ago, the FA announced that the potential return date had been pushed from April 3rd to April 30th, but this report from the Mail indicates that actual footballing action will not resume until an even later date.
With the country in lockdown due to recent events, officials believe that the latest estimated return isn’t a realistic prospect – potentially pushing the date back even further as a result. The FA agreed last week that the season will be ‘extended indefinitely‘ – with the football calendar’s resurrection looking like it could be swapped and changed depending on certain developments.
While this seems like bad news for football lovers, it makes good reading for Leeds, highlighting the EFL’s determination to finish this season regardless of the eventual confirmed return. Marcelo Bielsa’s side currently sit top of the Championship, having won five out of their last five league games, with players focused on keeping fit and retaining their manager’s playing standards (The Athletic).
Is Marcelo Bielsa a Leeds legend even if they don't go up?
