Leeds United receive promising news ahead of Sunderland clash later today

Leeds United fans here in the Tavern are feeling confident ahead of today’s Championship fixture, after displaying moments of promise against Fulham last time out.

The Whites will be desperate to return to winning ways after losing 2-0 to promotion chasers Fulham last time out, as they now welcome relegation contenders Sunderland to Elland Road for today’s Championship fixture. Indeed, many of our local residents received some promising news ahead of kick-off, as according to BBC Sport’s pre-match team news, Kemar Roofe could feature after six weeks out of the side.

Kemar Roofe has missed the last six weeks through injury but could feature in today’s Championship fixture against Sunderland.

Indeed, the Englishman has been the standout performer for Leeds United in the current campaign, as the club’s top scorer with 12 goals in what’s been a season to remember for the forward. Although, the Whites could be considerably better off if it wasn’t for injuries halting the player’s progress, as they’ve struggled to grind out positive results without him in the side.

However, it looks as if the striker will only receive a limited amount of time on the field if he’s given the nod, as Paul Heckingbottom won’t want to risk another injury as the season comes to a close.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Kemar Roofe’s return will be huge for the Whites as their most prolific striker, with many of our local residents now expecting their side to finish the season strongly. Although, the club won’t want to risk him suffering another injury after spending the last six weeks out on the sidelines, as they could look to ease him back into action from here on in until the end of the season.
