Leeds United’s unbeaten start under Marcelo Bielsa finally came to an end after they crashed out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of Preston.
Goals from Daniel Johnson and Brandon Barker sealed a win for Preston at Elland Road to send the Whites crashing out of the competition. Despite their exit, Leeds remain top of the Championship following an excellent start to the season. They will be hoping to return to winning ways against Middlesbrough on Friday.
Friday will also be the last chance Leeds have to strengthen their squad with the loan window closing. With injuries already beginning to mount up, Bielsa would be wise to add further depth to his ranks before the deadline. The Argentine should attempt to sign a versatile forward to add to his forward line.
One man he should consider in Juventus wonderkid – Moise Kean. Valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt, the striker is regarded as one of the brightest prospects emerging from Italy. He became the first player born in the 2000s to make an appearance in one of Europe’s five major leagues after graduating the youth ranks at Juve.
Kean spent last season on loan with Verona where he scored four goals. Following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at the Old Lady, first-team opportunities are likely to be limited, and a loan move would make sense for both parties.
With a blistering pace and great feet, Kean would give Leeds another dimension in attack. Regular first-team football in a competitive league would do wonders for his development and working with a well-respected coach like Bielsa would be ideal.
Leeds would pull off one of the signings of the summer if they pulled this deal off.
