Leeds United should make ambitious move for £7.2m-rated Liverpool outcast

Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern still can’t believe their luck after Marcelo Bielsa was named as their new manager.

For the fifth consecutive season, Leeds will start the new campaign with a new boss. Paul Heckingbottom was relieved of his duties after a disappointing year and was replaced with former Argentina and Chile boss Bielsa. The Argentine will become the club’s highest paid manager in history.

Our punters are hoping Bielsa can be the man to steady the ship and be a long-term option in the dugout. He will be tasked with bringing Leeds back to the Premier League and reportedly has a transfer war chest to play with. The prospect of playing under a well-respected manager will be a big plus for the Whites.

Therefore, Leeds should make an audacious attempt to sign Liverpool outcast – Lazar Markovic. Valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt, the Serbian arrived on Merseyside for £20m back in 2015 from Benfica with a reputation as one of Europe’s hottest prospects. The move did not go to plan, and Markovic found himself shipped out on many loan deals. Now, reports suggest his Liverpool career will finally come to an end.

He made just seven appearances for Anderlecht last season, but his best spell came at Hull City. The Tigers’ relegation made a move impossible but Leeds should look to bring him to Elland Road. Still only 25-years-old, there is plenty of time for Markovic to relaunch his career.

With pace and mazy dribbling abilities, the Serbian could become a star under Bielsa.
