It’s pretty obvious that Leeds United need a replacement for outgoing Jack Harrison after his loan spell ends, and Marcelo Bielsa should look to Aston Villa’s Albert Adomah to fill the gap.
Leeds were linked with the winger back in November and the Birmingham Mail even claimed in 2018 that the two parties had held talks, but a move never materialised. So, with Adomah and his club shelving contract talks, now’s the right time for the Whites to take advantage of the situation and sign up the 30-year-old.
Yes, his age doesn’t mean the signing would be for the long term, but Leeds need success now and it’s important to have a balance of experience and youth in their ranks. Pablo Hernandez is a prime example of a player who has improved with age and Adomah can do the same.
The club are clearly keen on the forward, and their hand has been forced into the transfer market with Harrison’s impending departure. Indeed, the stars are surely aligning for the Yorkshire to make the move and it would be likely even if the club didn’t earn promotion this season.
If they aren’t promoted this term, he’s played 363 times in the Championship across his career, so he knows the league inside out. With a number of foreign players entering the club from other leagues, that experience could be key, especially when playing off lone strikers such as Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe.
In fact, even if they go up, he should have the level head to deal with the pressure.
The Ghanaian – valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt – seems like the perfect fit for a United side looking for experience and instant impact. It’s time Leeds approached Villa to tempt him to Elland Road.
