Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been kept busy so far this summer.
It promises to be an exciting summer up ahead for Leeds fans as Marelco Bielsa goes about crafting his crafting his team. Lewis Baker has already been brought in to help out the midfield but the new Leeds boss need to target some defensive reinforcements. They haven’t been linked with him as of yet but one man the Yorkshire club should be targeting is Middlesbrough defender, Ben Gibson.
Fan favourite Pontus Jansson needs a solid and dependable partner next to him. As it stands, Bielsa will have only Liam Cooper and Conor Shaughnessy to partner the Swedish international next season. Jansson is probably one of the first names on the teamsheet for Leeds but if he doesn’t have a reliable partner next to him, Leeds will have a massive hole in their team.
The Middlesbrough defender has been at the club since the age of 12 and is one of the key players in Pulis’ team. The former under-21 international is a solid and reliable defender, and will likely command a sizeable transfer fee. Moreover, with Boro a direct competitor with Leeds for promotion to the Premier League, it might be a very difficult deal to pull off. However, with Bielsa’s reputation, the Yorkshire club might just be able to tempt the Boro man away, arguably to a side that might just have a better chance of getting promoted next season.
Is this Pontuss Jansson’s future defensive partner Leeds fans?
