What a difference a few days make.
On Saturday, Patrick Bamford was the villain for Leeds United as he missed several key chances for his side at Birmingham City with some supporters calling for him to be replaced in the starting eleven by Kemar Roofe.
However, Marcelo Bielsa decided to stick by the 25-year-old, fielding an unchanged side at Deepdale. After a goalless first-half, Ben Pearson was sent-off for Preston North End after bringing down Bamford when the forward was in on goal. This rash decision ultimately cost his side the game as Leeds began to dominate proceedings before finally making the breakthrough in the 63rd minute. After receiving the ball on the edge of the area, Bamford fired in expertly past the goalkeeper to give his side the lead and then followed it up with a second 13 minutes later when he headed home a cross from Mateusz Klich.
With the Lilywhites unable to respond to Bielsa’s side’s onslaught, the Whites went on to secure a victory which moved them above automatic promotion challengers Sheffield United who have the opportunity to respond against Birmingham on Wednesday.
After the game, these Leeds fans took to Twitter to express their delight with Bamford’s performance.

The former Chelsea forward’s brace took his individual total to 8 for the season in the Championship, a total which he will be looking to add to on Saturday when the Whites face Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road.
