The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern are seriously hoping that the Championship season comes to an abrupt end due to their poor form of late. In a season that promised so much, Leeds started well but ended up on a barren run which ended all dreams of a Premier League return.
Since the turn of the new year, Leeds have had an almighty struggle to keep up their good performances of 2017 and have since dropped several places in the Championship.
The Lilywhites really believed that with the squad they had at the start of the season, play-offs at least would be a realistic aim. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be and now Leeds are hoping to revive their fortunes ahead of next season with the potential for a lot of transfer business.
A Premier League player that we think Leeds would be very smart to sign is Crystal Palace right-back Joel Ward, who is valued at £4.50 million on Transfermarkt. Although this season Ward has been scuppered by injuries, the Englishman has still managed 16 appearances in all competitions as he now looks to help Palace steer away from the relegation zone.
Leeds would surely welcome any Premier League experience they can get and especially as Joel Ward is available on a free transfer, the Lilywhites will have to act fast if they’re to beat off other competition.
Although Leeds troubles aren’t just in defence, improvements all over the pitch would be deemed necessary after a drastic drop in form this year. With Joel Ward being one of many Premier League players available on a free transfer this summer, Leeds should act quick and snap up a steady defender.
