Aside from Lewis Baker, there hasn’t been much to report in terms of confirmed signings arriving at Leeds.
New boss Marco Bielsa hasn’t managed to bring any players aside from Chelsea’s Lewis Baker on loan. There’s less than a month left in the window and the club need to bring in some new recruits if they are to have a chance of gaining promotion next season.
In defence, Leeds are very short at centreback. As it stands, Bielsa only has three central defenders to chose from although Luke Ayling can play there too. He must bring in someone to strengthen the defence but also, he cannot let anyone else leave.
Swedish news outlet, Expressen, is reporting that West Brom are keen on making a move for fan favourite and one of the club’s best players, Pontus Jansson.
Having made the permanent move to Elland Road last summer, and signing a three-year deal, Jansson has become one of the fans’ favourite players. In his second season at the club, Jansson established himself as one of the better defenders in the league. While he may be hard to pry away from the Yorkshire club, with Leeds seemingly struggling in the transfer market, the Swedish international may just decide that he needs a move away.
Relegated from the Premier League, the Baggies may also provide a more legitimate option for Jansson to reach the Premier League. Leeds, however, simply cannot let him go. If Jansson were to leave, Bielsa’s promotion campaign could well be in jeopardy.
