For the most part, it’s all been a bit quiet on the transfer front for Leeds United this month. Indeed, with Whites fans so close to the Premier League they can taste it, Marcelo Bielsa’s first January window in charge at Elland Road hasn’t really got going yet.
So, we recently asked our Leeds-supporting readers who they thought their best ever January addition was. While the club don’t boast a huge amount of success when shopping in the New Year sales, there was one clear winner amongst the Yorkshire faithful.
As you can see above, former fan favourite Max Gradel picked up 72% of the vote, which is perhaps unsurprising when you consider some of the other options on offer.
Initially arriving on a short loan in October 2009, the Ivorian impressed enough under Simon Grayson to earn a two-and-a-half-year contract just a few months later and lit up Elland Road for 18 months before leaving for France, cementing himself as one of the club’s best players of their long Championship era.
With that potentially coming to an end, perhaps Gradel would consider an emotional return.
